Rent Assessment Committee(RAC)

Rent Assessment Committee (RAC) is an independent body appointed by the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government in the United Kingdom. The purpose of the RAC is to hear appeals from tenants and landlords when there is a disagreement about the rent for a particular property. The RAC is responsible for making decisions about the level of rent that should be charged for the property and can also make recommendations about the terms of the tenancy. The scope of the RAC covers a range of issues including rent levels, rent review procedures, service charges, rent arrears and disputes between landlord and tenant. The decisions of the RAC are legally binding and can be enforced by the courts if necessary.
