Office of the Deputy Prime Minister(ODPM)

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) is a UK government department established in 2001 to provide effective oversight of the housing sector in England. It is responsible for overseeing and delivering the government’s objectives for housing, including improving housing choice and affordability, tackling homelessness, promoting sustainable communities, and providing access to decent, secure, and affordable housing. The ODPM is also responsible for setting and monitoring the performance of key housing policies, such as the social housing regulator, the planning system, and the sustainable communities agenda. The ODPM works in partnership with other government departments and local authorities to ensure policies are delivered in a coordinated, integrated way.
