Local Government Ombudsman(LGO)

The Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) is an independent organisation in the United Kingdom responsible for investigating complaints about maladministration in local authorities, including those relating to housing. The LGO investigates complaints from people who feel they have been treated unfairly or have not received a service they are entitled to from their local council. It also investigates complaints about poor housing standards, benefit delays, and the failure of local councils to properly follow their own procedures. The LGO has the power to make decisions that bind the council and to recommend remedies for those affected by maladministration. The purpose of the LGO is to identify problems in local authorities and to recommend changes to improve services for the public. The scope of the LGO is wide-ranging and includes looking into alleged maladministration, discrimination, failure to follow procedures, and failure to provide a service. The LGO seeks to ensure that local councils treat people fairly, provide quality services, and are accountable to the public.
