Local Government Association(LGA)

The Local Government Association (LGA) is a voluntary membership organisation that represents the interests of local government in England and Wales. It was established in 1997 to provide a unified voice for all local authorities, and to provide advice, guidance, support and representation to its members. The LGA works to promote and develop effective local government in the areas of local democracy, local services, economic development and regeneration, and housing. In the context of UK housing, the LGA works to ensure that local authorities are able to provide quality, affordable housing to meet the needs of their local communities. It works to ensure that housing policies are developed locally, that local authorities are able to meet their statutory obligations in delivering housing services, and that local authorities are able to access the resources and funding necessary to meet their housing objectives.
