Supporting People(SP)
Supporting People (SP) is a programme of the UK government that provides funding for housing-related support services in the UK. These services are designed to help vulnerable people, such as homeless individuals, those in overcrowded accommodation, and those at risk of exploitation and abuse, to maintain their independence and live as independently as possible. The aim of SP is to ensure that everyone has access to safe and appropriate housing that meets their needs and enables them to lead a fulfilling life.
Supporting People funding is allocated to local authorities who then provide the services to their local population. The services funded by SP can include practical help with day-to-day tasks, advice and information on housing, mental health and wellbeing support, help with independent living and maintaining a tenancy, and access to other specialist services. The funding enables local authorities to provide a comprehensive range of services that meet the needs of vulnerable people, including those with complex needs.
