Statutory Sector Agencies(SSA)

Statutory Sector Agencies (SSA) in the UK housing context are public bodies that have been established under the law to provide support, advice and regulation to the UK housing sector. The purpose of SSAs is to protect the public interest by ensuring that the UK housing market operates in a fair, effective and efficient manner. SSAs provide a range of services, including housing advice and tenancy support, as well as providing guidance and regulation on standards and practices within the sector. SSAs also have a role in developing policy and legislation relating to the housing sector. SSAs are responsible for the implementation of the UK’s national housing strategy, and they work in partnership with other public, private and voluntary sector organisations to ensure the delivery of public housing services in a cost-effective and timely manner. SSAs have a wide-ranging remit and are responsible for the delivery of housing and homelessness services, neighbourhood renewal and regeneration, housing support, and other related services.
