Public Order Offences(POO)

Public Order Offences (POO) are offences which are committed against the peace, public order and good behaviour of the public. They are designed to protect individuals, public safety, and public welfare. By preventing disruptive behaviour, they help to maintain a safe and orderly society.

POOs in the context of UK housing are committed when an individual disrupts the peace of a residential area or creates an unsafe environment for occupants of a residential property. They may include, but are not limited to, public drunkenness, causing a disturbance, verbal abuse, harassment, vandalism and graffiti, theft, and public nuisance. The purpose of POOs is to protect public safety and order, as well as to deter people from engaging in behaviour that would put others in danger or cause them discomfort or distress.

The scope of POOs is broad and can apply to any individual who is found to be disrupting the peace of a residential area or creating an unsafe environment for its occupants
