Private Rented Sector Schemes(PRSS)

Private Rented Sector Schemes (PRSS) are a type of housing policy in the UK that is aimed at increasing the supply of private rented housing. These schemes are designed to provide long-term, secure and affordable rental accommodation to those who are unable to access or afford other forms of housing. They are usually run by local authorities, housing associations or private landlords, and can involve the government providing incentives or subsidies to landlords to encourage them to provide rental accommodation. PRSS typically involve the provision of housing units that are rented out for a period of time, usually five or more years, with rents that are lower than the market rate. The schemes may also include other support services such as advice and information, access to maintenance services and tenancy management. The purpose of PRSS is to provide long-term, secure and affordable housing to those in need, while encouraging private landlords to invest in rental accommodation.
