Office of Fair Trading(OFT)

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) is an independent body within the UK government responsible for protecting consumers and promoting fair competition in the housing market. It works to ensure that the housing industry is fair and transparent, and to protect tenants and other stakeholders from unfair practices. The OFT has the power to investigate and take enforcement action against companies and individuals who are not complying with relevant consumer protection laws. It also provides guidance and advice to tenants and other stakeholders to help them understand their rights and responsibilities. The OFT’s remit includes monitoring and reporting on housing trends and the state of the housing market, as well as providing training and education to stakeholders on housing regulations, policies and practices. It also works with government departments and other agencies to ensure that the housing market is fair and competitive.
