Notice of Seeking Possession(NOSP)

A Notice of Seeking Possession (NOSP) is a document issued by a landlord in the United Kingdom when they wish to start the legal process to regain possession of their property from a tenant. It is the first step in the eviction process and usually serves as a warning to the tenant that the landlord is about to take legal action if the tenant does not pay their overdue rent or otherwise comply with their tenancy agreement. The NOSP will set out the grounds for possession, the date by which possession should be given, and the landlord’s contact details. The purpose of the NOSP is to provide the tenant with a formal warning that they need to comply with the terms of their tenancy agreement or risk eviction.
