Intermediate Care

Short-term care that helps people recover independence after a hospital stay or illness.

In the UK, “intermediate care” is a term used to describe a type of care that is somewhere between residential care and home care. It is usually provided for elderly people who need some help with their day-to-day activities, but do not require full-time nursing care.

Intermediate care can be provided in a variety of settings, including residential homes, nursing homes, or in the person’s own home. The level of support that is available will vary depending on the setting, but may include things like help with dressing, bathing, and eating, as well as providing medication and wound care.
