Interim Payment(IP)

Interim Payment (IP) is a form of housing benefit available in the United Kingdom that provides short-term financial assistance to those in need of help with their rent. It is designed to bridge the gap between when a person applies for housing benefit and when their claim is processed and approved. It is typically a one-off payment and usually covers up to eight weeks of rent. The purpose of IP is to help prevent people from having to resort to extreme measures, such as eviction or homelessness, if they are unable to meet their rent obligations. The scope of IP is limited to providing a temporary cash flow solution for those who have applied for housing benefit and are waiting for their claim to be processed. It does not provide ongoing, long-term financial support and it does not cover deposits or moving expenses.
