Income Support for Mortgage Interest(ISMI)
Income Support for Mortgage Interest (ISMI) is a form of financial assistance provided by the UK government to help lower-income families with their mortgage payments. The purpose of ISMI is to ensure that those on lower incomes are able to keep up with their mortgage payments and avoid losing their home. ISMI is available to those who are receiving certain benefits, including Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income Support, Pension Credit, and Employment and Support Allowance. The amount of assistance available depends on an individual’s circumstances, such as the size of their mortgage, their income and other factors. ISMI is not a loan and no repayment is required. It is intended to provide short-term relief to those who are struggling to make ends meet, and to prevent them from slipping into debt or losing their home.
