The Chartered Institute for Environmental Health (CIEH) is an independent professional body in the United Kingdom that offers qualifications and training in environmental health. It is dedicated to protecting public health and safety by promoting higher standards in the practice of environmental health and safety in the built environment. CIEH develops and delivers qualifications in the areas of food safety, health and safety, housing and environmental management, and more. It also provides guidance and advice to local authorities, housing associations, and other stakeholders in the management of environmental health in the UK housing sector. CIEH is a registered charity and works closely with government and other organizations to set standards and provide advice on environmental health and safety. The purpose of CIEH is to advance the science and practice of environmental health and safety in the built environment, in order to protect public health and safety.
