Care Inspectorate

The Care Inspectorate is the body that regulates and inspects care services in Scotland. This includes care homes, nurseries, childminders, homecare workers and domiciliary care agencies. The Care Inspectorate sets standards for these services, and conducts inspections to make sure that they are meeting these standards. It also investigates complaints about care services. It is part of the Scottish Government.

* The Care Inspectorate does not regulate self- employed people who care for other people in their own homes, nor does it regulate homecare workers or childminders who are employees of a care agency.
