Agricultural Tenancies(AT)

Agricultural Tenancies (AT) are a type of tenancy agreement used in the UK housing market for agricultural land and farms. ATs are governed by the Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995 and provide tenants with the legal right to use agricultural land for the purpose of agricultural production and the right to occupy a dwelling on that land. They enable tenants to protect their rights to the land and provide them with security of tenure. The purpose of ATs is to provide security of tenure and enable tenants to farm without fear of eviction, as well as to provide them with the opportunity to develop their business by providing a succession path. The scope of ATs is to provide tenants with a legal right to occupy agricultural land, including the right to use the land for agricultural production, the right to occupy a dwelling, and a succession pathway for the tenant’s family. The scope also includes the right to receive a fair rent, the right to make improvements to the land, and the right to receive a compensation if
